Drag a file. Tap a key. Done.

TapTask converts, compresses and edits files right where they are. No apps to open, nothing uploaded — just a gesture you already make every day.

Grab a file with the mouse

Grab a file and, while holding, tap ⇧ ⌃ or ⌥. Digits 1–9 work too.

  • Works offline
  • 80+ actions
  • Originals untouched
  • macOS 15 or later

Three moves instead of five windows

Turning a HEIC into a PNG usually means opening an app, finding Export, picking a format and a folder. In TapTask it's one gesture.

  1. Grab a file

In Finder, on the desktop or on the TapTask shelf. Several files or a whole folder work too.

  2. Tap a key

Briefly, while still holding the mouse. A ring opens around the cursor with only what fits this file.

  3. Drop on an item

The new file appears next to it: photo.jpg → photo.png. The original is never changed.

One key, one ring

Press ⇧, ⌃ or ⌥ on your keyboard — the ring switches just like in the app.

⇧ ⌃ ⌥ switch rings, the same key again shows the next page, 1–9 pick an item.

Photo presets

Dial in a look — exposure, shadows, warmth — and save it as a preset. Then apply it to dozens of photos in one drop.

No dragging needed

Select files in Finder and double-tap ⇧ — the ring opens at the cursor. Or assign a shortcut like ⌃⌥C.

Shortcuts

Every TapTask action is in the Shortcuts app. Build your own recipe and run it from Spotlight or with Siri.

Shelf

A floating window: collect files from different folders and drag them all at once into an email or a chat.

Your look

Light, dark or automatic theme. Ring keys can be reassigned if ⇧ is taken in your favorite app.

Your files never leave your Mac

  • Nothing uploadedThe app has no internet access. Online converters get a copy of your file — TapTask doesn't.
  • On-device AIBackground removal, face detection and text recognition run on Apple's built-in models.
  • Originals untouchedThe result is always a separate file next to it. Undo the last action and the files go to the Trash.

FAQ

Does it need the internet?

No. TapTask works fully offline: conversions and AI tools all run on your Mac.

Which Macs are supported?

Any Mac with macOS 15 Sequoia or later, Apple silicon or Intel. AI tools are noticeably faster on Apple silicon.

Can it damage my files?

No. TapTask never changes the original — the result is saved as a separate file next to it. If the name is taken, a number is added: photo 2.png.

Shift gets in the way in another app. What can I do?

In Settings you can pick a different key or combo for each ring, like ⌘ Command. You can also pause TapTask for an hour, a day or until you turn it back on.

When is it out and how much will it cost?

TapTask is getting ready for the Mac App Store. Leave your email below — we'll write once it's available and tell you about the price.
